Minister Nkulikiyinka Presents Rwanda’s Vision on Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work at the 114th International Labour Conference
At the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference, Hon. Minister Christine Nkulikiyinka presented Rwanda’s perspective on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping the future of work. She emphasized the importance of harnessing emerging technologies to boost productivity, spur economic growth, support skills development, and improve service delivery, while proactively addressing associated risks and challenges.
Hon. Minister Christine Nkulikiyinka highlighted Rwanda’s human-centered digital transformation agenda, underscoring key milestones including the National Artificial Intelligence Policy, the recent establishment of the National AI Agency, and ongoing investments in digital infrastructure, innovation, and workforce development. She further outlined major initiatives such as the Digital Ambassadors Programme, AI capacity-building for public servants, and specialized training for employers’ and workers’ organizations aimed at equipping citizens and labour market actors with digital and AI-related skills.
The Minister reaffirmed Rwanda’s conviction that, with strong governance, inclusive skills development, and international cooperation, Artificial Intelligence can contribute significantly to decent work, entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustainable development. She reiterated Rwanda’s commitment to working closely with social partners and global stakeholders to ensure that digital transformation advances productivity, innovation, social justice, and shared prosperity for all.
